Opportunities for Growth

Community Development

The Community Development area of opportunity focuses on our members’ impact on our local community and encourages our members to find ways and develop projects that make life on our community (the Richmond metro area) and the world better.

 

This area of opportunity includes all of our community service projects, charity work, etc., as well as our work to encourage involvement by our members in local, state and national government (e.g., voting drives, meet the candidate forums, visits to the legislature, U.S. Capitol, White House).

In addition, we have recently held other projects in this Area of Opportunity, including the Richmond Improv Festival, Habitat for Humanity, Food Drives, Clothing Drives.

Networking and Personal Development

The Individual Development area of opportunity includes all projects designed to help members develop themselves through training seminars and networking with young professionals and other people in the Richmond area.

 

Training opportunities cover everything from escaping a burning building to managing a retirement account. There’s something for everyone. However, projects include not only formal training, but also social events.

Professional Development

The Professional Development area of opportunity is primarily focused on the administrative and fundraising aspects of our chapter. No matter your career interests, the Richmond Jaycees chapter has something for everyone. Our activities involve the full breadth of business elements such as management, marketing, branding, strategy, planning and communications.

 

Current and past Professional Development opportunities include:

  • Editing Chapter Newsletter, the Jaybill
  • Brand Management
  • Reaching out to Speakers for Chapter Meetings
  • Participate in regional, state and national conferences
  • Competitions (Speak Up, Write Up, Debate)

  • Leadership positions available for developing your resume
  • Members of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce

Culture and International Experience

Well, we’d like to improve our own communities and in so doing, improve life in our world.  As Such, the Jaycees also focus on International Opportunities that expose our members to different cultures in order to allow our leaders to grow.

 

The International Area of Opportunity focuses on everything beyond our own local communities, and seeks to promote a line from the Jaycee Creed which states that “the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations.”

 

Projects and programs in this area of opportunity include:
